I learned to drive in my dad's 1979 Dodge pickup, three or four speed on the column if I recall correctly. I also drove my mom's big monster two-door 1976 Buick Delta 88 I think it was.

My first car was a 1973 Dodge Duster with a slant 6.

My dad used to say the hood was open more than the doors were. Ended up pulling the engine and rebuilt it at some point, bad bearing.

Me - 76 Grand Torino.

Had a buddy whose father owned a body shop - he went through drivers ed and took his test in a enormous 1976 Lincoln Continental made up from two wrecks cut and welded back together. How he got through the cones I will never know....
And then there was my other buddy in the Chevy Chevette.

First drive.. 1979 VW Dasher Diesel with a 4 speed

first car, 1972 Plymouth Satellite

That would be about 8k in todays money, You sure it wasn't a wet dream?

I learned to drive in a mid70s Ford Maverick…red. First car was a 1980 MG Midget….loved that car! View attachment 144032
My first car was a late 1970s Fiat Spyder. Bot when I was 15 before I could even drive. Spent 6-9 months doing body work, paint, new interior, new convertible top. Thing was sweet when I finished. Was a fun ride and could fill it up for less than $10.

My mom's Rambler.... standard on the column...we lived on a farm and my dad would let me drive it to the dump.... I was 13....he also showed me how to start it on a hill in gear..... fun times. My first car was a 72 2 door chevy impala....4 barrel. My drunk step grandpa put it in a ditch …. Bent the frame..lost his license and gave the crooked car to me.

First car 1958 Ford Fairlane (bought from my dad). Took it to Earl Schib(sp?) for the $29.00 paint job (1 color was $19.00 & 2 colors was $29.00) and put the chrome reverse wheels on it. Never scored in the back seat as the only birth control was an aspirin. The girls daddys would give them an aspirin and tell them "hold this between your knees until you get home!"

When my parents split my mom bought a cricket….. after the impala caught fire I drove the cricket everywhere….. they were little beasts back in the day

I have so many being poor car stories. When I went on my first date with my wife… right out of college….she wanted to go about an hour away to meet her friends. There was no way my tires were going that far…. So I called my mom to borrow her tires…. Put her car on blocks in the driveway swapped them with mine and went on the date. Swapped them back that night….. crazy shit

Dayum! That is a dam high price hooker there. JFC, my buddy and I split a $40 hooker in Vegas in 1971 and thought she was expensive!
I don't split or share my woman, I don't do Hookers. It was my 1st Love ;) I wish I could remember what the movie was, guess I wasn't focused on the movie anyway...

The rear seat folded down on that car, I think I had 3 pairs of 6 x 9 speakers mounted to it.

Learned to drive in a VW Jetta. 1st car was a dodge p/u (the small one) when he saw the road through the floorboards of the beetle. After the Jetta, my parents each got a Pontiac Fiero. No backseat stories from me.

I also drove the hand-me-down to my older sister late 60s VW bug before I got my Duster, sorry "Gold" Duster. I never knew what that snake skin roof stuff on it was. Damn that is an ugly car now that I look at it. I had more pimped out stupid crap on that thing than I can remember.
