What is under the passenger helm?

Im looking to mount a subwoofer underneath the passenger helm
(Basically underneath the glove box / ice chest) in my 06 220 Select.

There is a 45 degree angle 'footrest' - so to speak.
At the highest point possible on that 'footrest', I was going to mount the enclosed subwoofer there.

Does anyone know if there is anything 'underneath' the floor there that I would have to worry about 'drilling / screwing' into (wires / fluid lines / etc)?

I realize this is an odd question... but I was just wondering if anyone mounted anything in this location w/ no problem.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Jason

I missed that in his description.........too early in the morning when I replied I guess........or old age. :smt021

Now that's cleared up.....I want to hear more about a passenger helm?

yeah, im not exact on my proper boat terms...
(Hey, I used to ride jet ski's... give me a break :smt021  )

Anyway, yes, its an 06 220 select (bowrider)

Here's the area that im talking about (only a little further upwards)

I just need to be sure that if I drill there - that I wont puncture anything on the otherside?

Thanks!

I believe that when you remove cushion from bow you can see other side of that wall.

RedGST.... not a weird question at all.... in fact I spent several weeks thinking about it (a few years ago).... before I just carefully and slowly (VERY SLOWLY) drilled the holes to secure the foot for the support bracket I had made and powder coated. I found the fiberglass to be pretty thick in this area... and I personally did not run into anything "bad". We had to have some decent supports as the sub box was very very heavy (if I rememer correctly in the neighborhood of 150-175 lbs). I had one on either side.... it was 3/4" thick MDF internally baffled and glassed at each seam with a 1/2" starboard exterior to be more water friendly. The guy who built the enclosure also put several layers of dynamat in between the MDF and the starboard before they were bonded together.

Here are some pix

My 220 was a 2002.... same design (first year of the design) as the current models.. different stickers on the side, interior colors were more earth tones, and the only layout was the layout that is now optional

You may be inclined to call SeaRay before drilling as well. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Interesting thoughts.

I didnt think that the bow storage section (under the cushion) went back that far, but I will double check.

280 SR: wow, that was a nice setup you had there.
I appreciate the info (and those pics as well)

I think I might give SR a call just to verify... but seems like I should be ok.

Thanks all.
