What is this?

Red is power, black is ground and the yellow wire is the SeaTalk data. You don't really need that box and they are absurdly expensive if you go to buy one. I replaced mine with Blue Seas terminal strips.

Here is a photo:

The double strip is for power, and the single strip is for the SeaTalk data. The SeaTalk cable from the C80 (red, black, yellow) gets connected to the strip. This set up consolidates data from GPS, depth, heading sensor and compass.

I have the exact same factory install as you on my 2004 (I even have the white box). I get the "NO FIX" once in a while, but not often enough to bother me. The workaround for me is to kill the battery switches to cut power to the Raystar120 to clear out its buffers (according to my research I have a 120 that is from a batch that had a fab problem that would generate this buffer overflow problem if power is left on the 120 for a long period of time). Its just a pre-launch check for me. 90% of the time I don't have to do the workaround.

My 05 was doing the same exact thing, but then got worse to the point of not being able to lock onto satellites. I bought a brand new GPS 125 from Raymarine for. $225. Fixed the problem instantly.

Well, checking connections in the box fixed nothing. In facts things are worse. When I was taking out the tiny screws, one fell down into the cabin door track, so now my door is jammed and hard to move....smh.
