I'm inquiring about a boat that a guy is selling. His grandfather started the restoration a few years ago then health issues got in the way. Anyway his son is selling the boat but doesn't know the model. He says its 29' long. looks like a 270 or 280. He gave me these numbers SERT4004F686. I told him there should be another set of numbers stamped in the transom with the model but he is hard to get ahold of. Sometimes takes couple days to get answers from him. Can anyone tell by these number what model it is? Looks like an 86 though.

Other than the year, 1986, can't tell the actual model from the Hull ID #. But, knowing it's an '86, look at the online Sea Ray archives and see if you can match it up.

My 290 Sundancer (30' 6" LOA) had a single 7.4L
 
It has a new merc 496 single.
 
I stand corrected.....lol I don't think Sea ray made anything over 30 with a single screw?????? What year sundancer was a single screw @29 feet? I saw a guy a while ago selling a an old late 70's style 30 footer that he removed the big blocks and converted to 4cyl
 
Its a 270 DA. Going to look at it now. I'll let you know how I make out. I need another boat like I need a hole in the water.
 
OK, So I bought the new hole in the water. I will start another thread with photos and the restoration.
