What is the next Covid-19 phase?

There's lots of talk about the second wave of illness/death from Covid-19. Some say it's coming. Some say we're in the second wave already because the first wave started in December '19 or even before.

Irrespective of that, it seems there are two options coming up.

One is there is a vaccine that works against Covid-19. Seems like a long-shot for at least two reasons: 1. The virus is mutating, so which strain is the vaccine for? 2. The cold virus (rhinovirus) is a Corona virus, yet there is no vaccine for that. Is that because the cold virus keeps mutating?

Two without a vaccine does that mean we all will eventually get Covid-19? And for those in the vulnerable groups, does that mean they have to continue to social distance and wear masks, etc., for the rest of their lives?

The future of this thing has me stumped. I hope there are other ways forward from here.

The metric that I'm most interested in will come out early next year. That is the standard deaths per 1000 that has been tracked since 1950 at the site below. It was 9.6 in 1950, started going down in '76 or so, then back up. It was 8.782 last year. Less than half way through 2020 we're at 8.880. How much higher will it get?

SARS and all the others went away after people got sick. Out daughter got Corona and it lasted a couple of days. Young healthy seem to survive. Us old may not so the young will be able to get some boats at a good price and in 30 years it all will happen again.

I honestly don't know. I think watching the states that open and watching their numbers would be a start.

People born around 1900 survived WWI, the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, the 1929 crash and WWII all with in 45 years. That's about 17 years of really hard times our ancestors endured I would think we will survive this just fine.

I want to make to make certain something is left. Yes we survived the Spanish flu, 29 crash , and WWII. However we didn’t surrender, currently a lot of states is in that mode.
Move on , people has to survive and that’s not doable in a so called lock down.

All we should have done is protect the nursing homes and high risk populations, everyone else would simply practice great hygiene and a little distancing.

I said earlier I was in a restaurant two days before the dictator shut down Michigan.... the restaurant had it figured out on how to sterilize the place.. if this witch opens up restaurants.... this is the first place I will go to day one and sit at the bar....

My best bud had to go into the hospital today. It was empty, he was there for cancer treatments. Nurse told him there was 2 Covid patients 2-3 weeks ago.
Said being there was safer than anywhere around.
