I hit a pot buoy this past weekend and I am going to have a diver check out the running gear this week because I can't get down to the boat till Thursday evening and we have a trip we are leaving on Friday Morning. I haven't used a diver before because I would usually do it myself. How much should I expect to pay for a diver to check out the running gear. I am on Cape Cod, MA

I had a diver check the underside of my boat to see what shape the bottom paint is in and video the entire bottom for me. $200.

I’m on the opposite coast, but about $100 to check everything and report back.

Thanks for the responses. I found a guy that the Harbormaster recommends for $125 so sounds like I am in the ballpark. He was going to be in the harbor today checking a few
Moorings first he is going to look at it today.

You should get him to do some cleaning while he's down there. I just had a guy clean my whole bottom in the water, replace zincs, and check all the gear for $175

The boat just went in the water a month and a half ago. We’ve been out on it every weekend since then. There can’t be too much growth already. When I pulled it out last year after the whole season there was very little growth

The diver I have used for the exact same thing charged either $100 or $120 a few years ago so your definitely in the ball park.

That's good to know, thanks Scott. The diver checked it out yesterday and there was some pot rope wrapped on the shaft but he didn't see any damage. That's $125 well spent.

100 for the diver and 25 to the harbor master for the referral.
