So due to issues beyond my control. Our 1989 230CC had been totaled out. Lost in a fire. We really loved this boat, it worked out perfect for how we boated. Well after much discussion the Admiral and I have decided we want to go slightly bigger. We would love to find a 1989 - 1992 260CC. What is the best way to locate one? There seems to be very few out there? Thanks for the help.

craigslist, boattrader, ebay, yacht trader, broker, dealer...
i was actually looking for a 250 when my wife and I found the 290. way bigger boat way better boat for us, fits our lives better than we could have imagined. the wife took one look and said yes.

Bummer to hear about your 230. You might have to drive for a while but I'm sure there are lots of good boats to view in the Great Lakes area. Whenever we were shopping for boats on "Yachtworld" all the good ones seemed to be in that area. I'd bookmark all the "Craigslist" locations that you would consider buying a boat from, and check them daily. Yachtworld is also a good source. Good luck.

It is hard work searching for a boat but if you search patiently and diligently you will find a good boat.

I'd bookmark all the "Craigslist" locations that you would consider buying a boat from, and check them daily.

www.Searchtempest.com is the best way to search for the older vessels you are targeting. It can search multiple Craigslist as well as eBay and others based on miles from your zip code.

good luck, MM

I did up a list of what I want and went to boat shows. The list was very detail and at the bottom was. IF YOU CALL ME AND DO NOT HAVE 100% OF WHAT I WANT I WILL NEVER CONCIDER YOU FOR A BOAT PURCHASE. I got many calls from those that had close to what I wanted but not realy close. Two years later I got a call from a broker who said he had what I wanted. He did we bought it.

If you are looking for a specific boat model and year, I would probably recommend BoatTrader.com. They have a descent search filter that you can narrow it down pretty nicely. Good luck!

Craigslist for me.....did a lot of ebay shopping also. We also went to Marine Max and walked through used boats also. We focused on what we could spend on a Sea Ray 26ft or larger. Our current boat was a 1988 23' IO speed boat. We wanted a few years newer and as big as we could tow. The deal maker for us was our 270 was on a like new trailer made for the boat/model. All the others we looked at needed a trailer and we have no lift at our Boat Club.....trailer ramp only. Have fun shopping.....we did.

For the age boat the OP is searching for CL via searchtempest.com is the most likely source of that one or two owner well cared for vessel.

Well we have replaced our boat that was last in our barn fire. After looking around a bit, we decided we wanted a good day boat again, and something that could do the occasional overnight if we wanted. It also had to be trailerable, so 8'6" beam was max beam. We ended up with a 1992 270 Weekender. Now I need to come up with a name. Current name is Knot Again, I am thinking "Phoenix" as in the mythological one. My 4 year old daughter is thinking we should call it "Red Lightning"

Here is a shot of it on the way home yesterday in the rain.

Finally, congrats. Nice lookin' boat and excellent choice.

Congrats on finding a boat that fit your needs! We found our 270 on craigslist after searching for a year and a half. Took some time but we are happy.
