I am an avid Crock wearer, but after taking a ride off the back of my swim platform while docking last week and ending up curled up naked in a blanket in my mid cabin with the heater on full blast while my wife took my my clothes to the dryers at our marina, I decided that it may be time to get some better grippers!

My problem is that I don't like wearing shoes with backs on them when I am out on the water. I just want to slip something on and off when stepping onto a hot dock!

Any sugestions?

I wear cheap sandals with a back from k-mart while docking and wading in and then nicer slip on sandals for everywhere else that I have to wear shoes. Then they come off and bare footing it.

My husband has worn the Original Sperry Shoes forever (he is 53 and has lived on the water his entire life). If we ever have to take the jet ski or ski boat out of the water at the ramp, he jumps in shoes and all (lake and beach). He ties them once when he gets them and then just slips them on when he needs them. I don't know if they stretch as he wears them or what, but like you he only has on shoes when on the dock. He swears by these shoes and they last forever.

Columbia came out with a new boat shoe last year. Its suppost to be a anti-odor shoe. Sea mag did a test on it and said it worked well. I bought a pair last year and love them. The best part is there named Columbia Sea Rays.

Shared a closet with him for 20+ years and never noticed. My daughter wears them as well. Never have smelled....Her Birkenstock's on the other hand---Oh my!

+1 Sperry's on the boat. I was skeptical but they are super comfortable and tough. Then Maui water shoes when mucking around in the water... I never go barefoot in the water never know what you are going to step on... Also have an old pair of Teva's for the water as well.

Mine never smelled either and I wore them all summer. Now my wife swears they smell... but they just look like they smell. On occational spray of Target Brand foot powder keeps them felling fresh...

Crocs are not boating shoes. :smt009

I have water resistant sperrys. http://www.uniquehomestore.com/osb/itemdetails.cfm/ID/1356
simular to these, I like a post above, get them wet, jump off the back of the boat to set a anchor and I have yet to slip and bust my butt with them. I also have a pair of sperry water tennis shoe style like this that I use with the jet ski. http://www.google.com/products?q=sperry+water+shoes&hl=en&aq=0&oq=sperry+water+shoe I love them.

Both wear well wet and don't leave your feet stinky.

Leave the Crocs at home and save your butt.

They last a LONG time. I even wear them as water shoes so mine spend a lot of time under water.

That's one of the reasons I like these, one of the beaches by my house has a lot of rocks, very sturdy soul.
