Hello all. Still new here and having a time reading all of the discussions. Is there a thread discussing the discontinuance of the 44DA after the 2008 model year?

Thanks.

What's there to discuss? They discontinued the 44DA and introduced the 43DA.
There you go.

The only other point to discuss is that if you can find a left over 44DA at a dealer somewhere, it is a boat to try to buy. Free of the new product cost amortization and now shadowed by the Zeus-only 43DA in demand, its got to be a real value as far as a new boat goes.

Good point. That is... if you can find a zeus-free 44DA

Good. Really good. Suffering from boat withdrawal.

Need fiberglass over water...

That's obviously not the same as "Fiberglass on the rocks!"

Yeah. Leave that to the guys who can't navigate at night.

The MM here in Cape Haze, FL has a new '08 44DA for sale. The Venice MM has a 43 DA as well.

Any 48's floating around ? Rumor someone stole a 44 for very low #'s

Rob

Frank,
Glad u had a nice trip buddy.... We all need some trips !!!!!

Rumor has it that a South Jersey located 44 ('05 I think) went for $249K a few weeks ago. Pretty sure this is factual information. Boat was a repo and was absolutely beautiful. Now just think what that sale did to the values of our boats. Sometimes life just isn't fair!!

The 44 that Frank H is talking about is an '06. It had the QSC 500HP motors and a Peweter Hull....loaded with all the goodies.....It broke my heart to hear about that deal....

There is a new 08 44 Sun Dancer that is sitting at the dock here in the Bay Area (SF/Oakland) with a price of $349K, and it is still not sold. 500 HP Cummins and all the goodies.

Don't beat yourself up over it. It's like buying a stock that went down. Hopefully, it'll go back up (boat stock = neg 10%/year after an initial 30/20% hit). Remember, it's not an investment. That guy got a great deal - wish I had his boat/deal. Wonder what his wife looks like. The key is to find a great boat, make a great deal, and enjoy it for at least a few years. If you were trying to turn it over right away, well, you're going to take a hit. But, if you're buying/selling 44' boats every year or two, my guess is that you can afford to take a hit every once in a while.

Let the time go buy. It'll all work out in the end.

PS - I could see myself jumping on a deal like that. Problem is, I probably couldn't afford the upkeep.

Hmm maybe that's my next boat, you have some kind of link to it or something?

I checked inventory on the SeaRay site for a new 08 in that area and nothing comes up..

I don't think they are listing all the boats that they have out there. I know of some new ones for sale with the local MM that do not show up on the MM web site. Must be a ploy to make inventories look low to fend off the hard bargains they are giving away.

Pricing on boats don't really 'go up'; rather the depreciation hit levels off with time.

I too believe that the majors withold available inventory in order to regulate supply/demand and create artificial support.

I wonder how effective this tactic is since there are independent brokerages doing otherwise.

HZO conference call last quarter stated that new sales in fiscal Q2 were effected by the amount of boats available as distress and repo sales.

It will be interesting to hear what they say on the next conference call in a few weeks.

I wish them all the luck and hope they pull out of this mess along w/ the economy.
