Went to Boat 3 weeks ago in Florida and could not get the sirius xm radio or the back up camera to work on the Garmin 7610. It shows no media and no options for the radio. Camera itself has red lights on in the lense so it must be getting power but the screen is blank. I called Garmin and Sirius with 0 help from either. Any ideas?

I would start by not assuming it is a common problem. Probability aside, it could be two completely unrelated issues. Solve one problem at a time.

Start my disconnecting both devices from your Garmin unit, and then try to "install" them one at a time.

I'm assuming the XM is NMEA 2000. If that's the case, you can start by going to your device list in your NMEA 2000 settings and see if the XM radio even shows up. If it doesn't show up in the list, the problem is likely on the NMEA bus, like maybe a missing or defective terminator, bad power-tap (or blown power-tap fuse), t-connector or some such. If it does show up, it could be a defective radio.

Does the camera connect through a Garmin network cable, or via the video in connector? (I believe it is a BNC connector on the Garmin unit) Either way, check your connections at both ends. Is your camera wired into your transmission (you called it a backup camera), or do you manually turn it on with a switch? Maybe verify that wiring as well. If it is a NMEA 2000 device, then that might point back at your NMEA bus, so the same troubleshooting steps would apply.

It could very well be a common problem, like a bad MFD, but looking at them as individual problems will either validate or disprove that possibility.

When it works, the camera operates when you go to video on the Garmin, I just use it to back up. Thanks for the info, I had to google nmea 2000 to see what you were talking about. I did not know all that wiring and cables had a name. I did check the connections but i will do a more thorough job and check again.
Do you know how to bring up NMEA 2000 on the Garmin? I have never ran across a menu for it.

It's in the manual.
