looking to buy gps and radar system, what would you guys recommend, is garmin good, the price is right but does it perform as good as the other companies

Tough question to answer, because everything really depends on how you plan to use it and how much you want to spend.

I have been researching Chartplotter/Sounder/Radar for my 320 and have narrowed to the Garmin 4280. Jim here at Boe has great prices and service. You should start by checking your measurements to see how big of a display will fit in your dash panel.

Others swear by their Raymarine equipment, which is often standard equipment on Searays.

In my reading it seems that Raymarine and Garmin are the two most popular consumer brands. They are affordable and good for everyday use. Other brands, like Furuno are higher-end and more popular for serious fishermen or commercial boats.

I've had good luck with Garmin, and they are the largest maker, so I plan to purchase their equipment.

I just bought a Lowrance HDS-5M GPS only, can someone reccomend a card enhancement for the Hudson River/New York waters.

Thanks,

i had old raymarine and ditched it, put in furuno navnetvx2 with furuno radar on my 45 sea ray

good, and of course 5 months later furuno comes out wiht Navnet3

have an everglades and that has 2 raymarine E-120s with a dome radar and that seemed as good as the furuno.

brother got a boat and put in two garmin touch screen 5212s i think. played with it just a little

GET the GARMINS
