what gear ratio

i have a 1972 srv200 with a 165 hp inline 6 lower unit went bad today what gear ratio do i need to get for this boat i have a 888 outdrive on it now but i no that is not the right one for that boat please help:huh:

That would most likely be a 1.84:1 drive ratio, or possibly a 1.65

I'm not so sure about that "888" outdrive. More than likely it's a Mercruiser MC-1. The predecessor to the Alpha series of drives.
If it is a Merc outdrive, the lower unit has nothing to do with gearing. That all takes place in the upper drive housing.

the upper housing went and i no that boat did not come with an 888 drive what out drive came with this boat and what gear ratio is the right one for this boat 1972 srv200 inline 6 thanks:huh:

the lower unit has nothing to do with gearing. That all takes place in the upper drive housing.
