So I have a galvanized box frame steel trailer, single axle, ez-loader style with rollers, and it fits my 18’6 boat easy and could most likely fit a 20’ boat. I have no idea who made the trailer or what it weighs, the title is a MS title and does not say anything other than TLR for make and model. The VIN does not work on any search I have tried, so no help there either. I am trying to take a good guess at what it weighs so I can order new springs and know what tires to get as well. I thought I was set on what I needed to get but just looked up my boat again and the dry weight is 2066Lbs not 1600 like I thought. The problem is I am over loading the tires now, they always look like they are very low on air even when over inflated, they are only 13” and load range c so maybe 1200 or 1300 LB capacity each?
What would your guess be at the weight on the trailer? It has a 2 3/8” round tube axle so guessing it is rated at 3500 Lbs as most in that size are rated. Just need to try and get a little help on what to get to fix this thig up for the road and not have it to bouncy, I am very nervous about trying my luck again with towing it until I get it all sorted out since I don’t have a spare now.

I wouldn't want to make a guess for this. Call the trailer manufacturer with your VIN and they'll tell you exactly. Or, if it's still readable, look on the sticker on the trailer. It's typically on one side of the tongue or the other, or on the inside of the "A-frame" portion of the trailer. Sometimes on the inside of the frame at the rear. Do the tires not also give the pounds?

Could make out it was made by Long Trailer co in Tarboro NC, but that is it no other info at all and i got that off the fenders. And the tires were over loaded, they are only 1360 lb rated so boat and gear and fuel would be close to that by itself. I am stuck now since I am not sure what the trailer is rated for or what it weighs, at least i know what tires to get and springs, gonna guess the trailer weighs 1000 lbs and go from there.

It could be anywhere from about 400/500 lbs up to about 1,000 (although that would be on the heavy side for a single axle).

Call the trailer manufacturer with your VIN.

Well Long trailer co is out of business, the trailer is titled as an 87 year model so not a huge surprise. I think if I error on the side of caution and say 800Lbs for the trailer I should be fine. All this may be a moot point now anyway, I was talking about all this at lunch and a lady heard me and said she wants to get rid of a ski boat she has, she just wants it out of her yard so she can put in a garden.

All I know is it’s a crownline with a 4.3 Mercruiser with a trailer and she is asking 1000 for it, I told her to get me the year and model and a pic or two and I will come look at it next week. I think it may be a 20’ or 21’ based on how she described it’s size. If it is bigger and in better shape and the 4.3 is good I may just have two boats for a while until I can sell the Seville. Remember my goal is to get an 80’s model 270 Sundancer with twin 454’s so if I can keep finding deals I can flip I might work my way up to a boat I really want. I already have a buyer for the Crownline he said if I clean it up and it runs good he would give me 2000 for it. Crazy days ahead I think……

So I got new tires for the trailer, went with 205/75 D15 Loadstars, rated at 1820Lbs each, I got them on last night and it does not squat them as much and looks like they should ride very well. I cut the fenders off so I can weld them in a new position to give clearance for the larger tires and will try to get to that next week. I have to go to PA this weekend for a funeral so no boating this weekend for me.
While I was checking things out I am positive I should put new springs on it too, there is only about a ½ inch before the axel hits the frame, and I am thinking there should be at least 2 to 3 inches of space at ride height under normal load. The springs that are on it are rusty and may be worn out, but at the same time the boat is water logged from all the rain we had the last couple days, I really need to get a water proof cover. Anyway gonna let it dry for a bit and see where it sits, but still think I will get new springs for it too.
