What do you do over winter?

There's nothing like not being in Florida during the month of March with all those obnoxious tourists. :smt038:smt038:smt038
Thats cause we get sick of all you southerners clogging up our ski hills! lol not to mention the ones who can't drive in the snow.

Around here we hit the local ski hills, become regulars at the local bars again, play with the trucks in the snow and work on the winter projects that were forgotten about when i bought the boat. :smt009

Im starting to accept the fact that its time to pull the boat and put it up. Im starting to look forward to the snow and the holidays. Besides, whats more fun than a 4X4 in the snow?

Well we do occasionally shovel snow in between our year round southern boating.

And occasionally we do put our boats in dry dock when we don't have enough water in our lake due to our ongoing drought. (Then we can sympathize with all you northerners.)

But mostly we just grumble over the fact the water is not warm enough to go swimming.

Honestly, work alot more. Get as much in now..to pay for next summer.
In March when it coldest we plan our summer trips on the boat.
I have no use for cold weather anymore, snowmobiling,sking,fourwheelin,ect..bin there done that.
All fine but, nothing beats boating in the summer!
Winter...yuck..

I'm glad you said ski "hill" because Mt. Brighton is nothing but a big bump by the side of the road. LOL

Love the picture.

Yes, I can feel winter coming on. The Admiral said that she would appreciate it if I would turn the heat pump on for the pool. The water temp is down to 78. Burrrrr.

I lift weights & train, work on my house, watch movies, enjoy the snow, build fires, find new ways to spend my money on boating, yell at my dogs for not wanting to crap in the snow, cook all the things I couldn't make on a grill in the summer, wish I was in Florida and occasionally take my boat to Palm Beach and wish I was retired or rich.

By the and of January, I am ready to kill my dogs, quit my job, move to Florida and live on my boat. The only problem is that a family of 4 can't live on a 220 SD. That's why I want a bigger boat. So I forget about the dogs issues, keep working and hope to buy a bigger boat someday that I can live on when my kids are grown.

Ha yea, Mt brighton sucks but its not as bad as Alpine or as us locals call it "Alpile" lol. Think a couple trips up to Boyne Mt are in order for this winter.

Here is a shot of me walking up our driveway last winter (18 inches of snow in a two days)...hopefully it will be a mild winter this year.

I hope we have more snow than last year. i don't want to see the grass till spring. that gets depressing. maybe next year ill break down and buy a snowmobile.

Ahhh...some nice winter shots. 26" of snow was an awesome 2 weeks of a winter wonderland.

Amy and I on the snowmobiles...our "winter boats" ;-)

Few more...

Amy playing ice hockey on a local pond, our annual beer holder snowman, and a stream behind the house in the woods that is so beautiful in the winter.

The family exhausted after sledding all day.

Being a recent transplant from WI it is finally cooling off enough here to start doing some serious boating.

Go out in the pole barn during the winter to turn on the battery charges, and day dream that the Sun Deck is out in the warm summer breeze going about 35 mph.

Awesome Tim, THATS what Im talkin' about!

I sit at my desk, stare out the window at the cold, crappy weather, get enormous due to eating double whoppers, and think about summer.

In addition to the above I also think about catching up with household projects. However, while I think about it, I generally never actually do the projects.

This year we have purchased a hot tub so at least we'll be able to be "in the (warm) water" while we wait for spring!
