What changed in Bravo 3 in 2003?

Hello, I am third owner of a 2002 Sundancer with a Bravo III outdrive that looks to have a newer lower unit that must have been replaced at a later time. So it may be an older and newer "hybrid" Bravo III unit.

It's time for me to get new zincs. Everywhere I look online for anodes they state they are for 2003+ or 2004+ outdrives; none state they are for pre-2003 units.

What changed that year? Can I simply purchase an anode kit and not worry if it will fit or not?

Do you have the anode at the end of the propshaft?

That was added in 2003.
There should also be 2 round anodes mounted flush with the plate just above the props.

I believe the 2003+ kits fit the earlier models but just come with too many items.

Above is correct, the later models contained the prop shaft anode. Everything else is the same.

Forget about the year, for now - we don't know if it's actually the newer style or just a "newer" old style. Easiest thing to do is simply look at what you actually have on the drive and order the proper kit. You can spend hours researching online but you still won't know what to order till you actually look.

The prop shaft anode does not necessarily indicate a newer B3. When I had my 2003 260DA with a B3 it did not have the prop anode and I added one. Its a common add on and readily available from BoatZincs.com. My unit did not have the two round anode - only one.

My Bravo 1 ( I know it’s different, work with me), when I buy the Martyr anodes comes with one that is supposed to go behind the prop, except my housing don’t have holes drilled for it, so it goes trash.

Our 02 280 was the same deal, one round anode and an add on boatzincs.com prop anode kit
