Obviously this is a little tough to describe clearly on a forum and even more difficult to give advice but any help is appreciated.

I have a westerbeke genny on the 330 that is sending out 15.5 volts to the DC systems out of the blue. I had all the batteries checked ok. If I turn on shore power, and turn on the AC converter, the batts charge at 13.8. I have 110v AC and 2amps on the AC panel. When I turn off the shore power and start the genny with the AC converter off, the batteries show around 13 volts as usual, I turn on that AC converter with the genny running the show, the AC panel shows 120V and 6amps. (Ive always had the 120V AC unloaded, but it dropps down to 110AC once I load it up a bit.) But where is the 6amps coming from, its only showing 2amps on shore power?? Thats strange. But whats worse, it starts pumping out 15.5volts DC to the starboard batts and 14 to the port. That seems a bit much. I think the limit for most onboard electronics is 16V.

Any ideas why when on shore power, my AC converter gives the batts a nice safe charge and my AC panel shows 2 amps, but on genny power, my converter is firing off 15.5 volts to everything and the AC panel shows me pulling 6amps?? I'm thinking maybe the voltage reg is goin bad but then again, why would that have any bearing on amp output? My next thought is something I read about here once where the windings in the gen coil start to fry and draw amps but Im not sure that would show on the panel since that usually is downstream from the genny. Any ideas appreciated before I call the pro on this one because this is a little out of my range of experience.

Thanks in advance.
