OK,

In a previous thread, my gen was cranking but wouldnt continue to run on it own. I solved the problem by spraying carb cleaner into the intake and it started right up.

Today, I went out on the boat and the generator was running without any problems. Then I noticed that my a/c shut down, I dont know whether it lost its prime, or strainer got clogged. I will check tomorrow to see if it's dirty but I doubt that it is.

After the a/c was shut down, I noticed my generator voltage was reduced, I cant remember then exact number but I think it was just over 110 or so which is unusual because fully loaded it will hold over 130.

What should I be looking at to solve this problem? I already bought new spark plugs and will be changing them out tomorrow.

I think it's more likely the low voltage from the generator likely caused the A/C unit to shut down, not vice-verse.

I don't know the specifics of your gen so I can't comment further, but the output needs to be checked with a Hertz meter for 61-61.5 Hertz and roughly 130v at no-load.

Problem solved. It was the generator belt that needed to be adjusted. Now it is putting out the proper power.

I have this same generator. In case I have the same issue, thank you. Now I'll know what to look for.

About a month ago I had the generator shut down on a hot day.

Long story short we sucked up a big weed and no water was able to come in. The weed never even made it to the strainer. It clogged the thru-hull.

When I opened the strainer and opened the sea-cock and no water came in I figured it out.

Now I am glad you have the same generator as I do. Finally, I'll have someone that we can exchange tips or troubleshoot.

The only times my generator has shut down because of the sensors gone bad or the safety shut down was activated (low oil, exhaust temp, etc).
