Well that's it. She was officially totaled today. Going to sit out the year at least and see how it goes from there. Hope to be back with a Sea Ray in a couple of years. Guess it just wasn't mean to be, "Hope Floats" floats no more. Thanks to all on the forum over the last 2 years. I must say half the fun of owning the boat was coming here and talking to you all. Who knows maybe I'll get the bug in April and start looking again, but as of right now its just time to distress and not think of the boat. Come to think of it I do already have tickets to the NYC boat show in Jan.:grin::grin::grin::grin:

Damn! I'm sorry man. The hits just keep coming and coming. If it happened to me I would prob follow the same path as you but then when it started getting warm I'd probably jump back in. I'd do it mainly for the great times I have at the beach with my family, especially the kids. These are magical years for them and I want to give them as many great memories as possible. Boating is a big part of that!
I wish you well my friend and I'm sorry for the loss. Good luck!

Sure you are but make sure like you said they do it right and have it in Pre Sandy condition if they are going to fix.

I hope I can join the club of having another boat again. :)

I'm also am sad to hear of your situation. Good luck with what path you follow in the future and please, stop by and visit us.

Alvin ,so sorry to hear another story like this. I wish you the best of luck and happy holidays!!Bugsy, MM's hourly rate is the exact reason why I didn't have them check my boat I was afraid the ins co would not approve the work. So I have my regular Mercruiser mechanic doing it he doesn't have 15 mechanics but he's a great mech and Sea Ray owner.

Alvin,

Nice pics and great looking family. That is exactly what draws me to boating so much. I hope to see you get back on the water sooner rather than later. Be well and happy holidays.

I've been there, done that with the totaled boat thing. I cried when they came to haul her away. I can feel your pain and will say that at some point it does go away, but it takes awhile.

Alvin,

I am sorry for that news. Please reconsider and remember how the boat brought your family closer together! Think of your old boat's name....keep the faith!

With all the issue we had with this boat to get it to prestine condition just to have it destroyed by Sandy has really taken a toll on me and my family. We basically had a brand new interior, engine, and outdrive put in last year. Took along time and took alot of effort on many front. I just do not want to go through that headache again. As much as I love boating (and this might all change in March or April as it gets warmer) I don't want to go through that ordeal again. We had an incredible boating season this year so maybe that will be the override factor. We will see what we all want to do as a family. But I think time off at least a year would be good.

I say poopie to a year off. Join me and joe at the boat show. Well find ya a brand new one at a great price so u dont have to go through it again.:smt038 turn the key and go

I will be at the boat show in NYC. :) New boats aren't always turn key as they should be. I had a new 2010 Bowrider before I got my 240 Sundancer. It had it's own issues. :)
