Sold the boat, went under deposit today... interesting experience to say the least. Took about 2 months give or take. Things I learned...
1. The kit you get with the "ByOwnerYachts.com membership is good for the docs...
2. Boattrader.com....Im not so sure about the utility of it...what I got from it was lots of e-mailed questions with no phonecalls...from prospective buyers
3. Definitely list in your local paper.
4. You would think more sites would have a view counter so you as a listing seller can see how many people have viewed their site and someone gauge the usefulness of listing with a given company.
5. In general, and I may seem down on boattrader but in general I felt it was a poor advertising venue, one we all must use, just in case...but it was very expensive, and didnt really yield much.
My next boat is not a SR, in fact that deal is already agreed, just need to close when the owner comes back into the NE in May/June...but I if you folks dont mind having a sailboater (motorsailor) around I think Ill continue to hang my hat here...Ive enjoyed posting with many of you since 05, and its insane how much Ive learned from the Franks, and others here.
I will say this, the process of selling our boat, and finding and striking a deal on the new boat really illustrated to me that amongst the boating community you run into some of the best and brightest as well as very community minded people
