I would like to verify that a Seafire FH500 fire extinguisher is still good in our 2005 390 Motor Yacht. Dial is in green so pressure is ok, but instructions say to weigh it to verify no halon has escaped.

My problem is that I am not sure how to disconnect the manual release cable so that I can weigh it. See photo. Would hate to accidentally discharge unit when I remove it. Weight is supposed to be 15 lbs 4 oz., plus or minus 8 oz.
Any help is appreciated.

If you have a local Cintas Fire & Safety location near you they inspect, weigh and certify for a nominal charge. You can watch while they perform the inspection so you can check it yourself if you wish.

Thanks, I will contact a local vendor if unable to do it myself, but prefer to do it myself. I can easily detach everything but the manual release cable. Will wait a bit, hopefully someone else has done this.
