First of all cool mod and good work with the flatscreen and supporting hardware (xbox and dvd). The tri-color lights are cool too!
But I have to throw this out there as I've seen a few people putting TV's in mounting them on articulating mounts intended for home use. I feel these mounts are going to allow the TV to move around too much even in calm waters. We all know how stuff bounces around while under way. Seems like this is setting up for a mount that is going to fail one day due to fatigue letting that nice flatscreen crash to the floor. If some sort of restraint strap was made for these setups to secure them while under way then they would prbably be fine. There is alot of movement down there and it becomes gets worse the closer to the bow you are. When I mounted ours the one in the fwd stateroom is mounted on its own stand secured to the old TV base. The one in the salon is mounted to the wall using the four screws. The one in the salon is a 32" and I worried that the four screw mounts in the rear of the TV case may not be capable of supporting that kinda weight when its being bounced up and down. So far so good though.
Again not to knock anyones installation techniques that may be working fine. I just wanted to put this out there and see if anyone else feels the same and maybe has some ideas of their own. I've always tried to do a modification the way the factory would've done it so it will stand the test of time.

Very well done mods.

My 330 is a bit older and we just started tearing out the original carpets this weekend. We're planning on replacing all the old blue side carpeting with a nice updated tan. Hardwood of some type on the floor, and all new leather look for the cushions. This is our first attempt at doing anything like this... (why start small) Look for the thread (w/ pics) coming soon. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions from those of you who seem to make mods look factory perfect.

I like the arch lights - which ones are they, and how much were they per light? Would like to retrofit the ones in my hardtop.

Thanks, appreciate the info, they look great. I take delivery in 3 weeks from yesterday, i will see how many are in the top and order asap!

They look great. Do the fit in the existing cutouts, or did you have to do any grinding / sawing / drilling?

Looks really great !!

I have the same thoughts out the LCD swivel mount, be uber cautious I don't trust those mount anymore after mine broke loose. On my previous 280da I made a custom mounting board almost exactly same as your to replace the 9" tv/vcr the boat had. Put a 15" LCD tv and was fine. Later that season I put a 22" LCD tv and all was great until a very choppy day. When I got back to the marina the tv had popped loose and was laying face down on the bed. Coax cable had helped in the fall, and somehow tv was fine, but this was a close enough call for me to put a plain mount in its place. I hope your straps are always used and your luck is better that mine was with that mount.

The install looks very nice and neat !! I love those lights, might have to check into replacing my LEDs that are just white with something like those, they look sw33t !! I also like the xbox idea for media player/gaming !! I plan on putting my ps3 in my boat this season in the coming days.

They did not fit in the cutouts on my boat. I used a drum sanding attachment for my drill and opened up the holes to allows them to fit. It was really easy!

Your mods are great. I am interested in the "shades" over the deck hatches. Are thay add ons as well or did your boat come with them. When I sleep, I need dark!

TIA

Please definitely post back with pics and description of how you secure it while underway. I'm also very interested in how you accomplish this. I've had some ideas floating around in my head on how to accomplish this on my own boat (when I finally get around to it!), but I haven't really settled on anything concrete.

Nice job!

Nice job Jason. Can't wait to see the results - this weekend?

I have.....my ex-wife! :smt021:smt021:smt021:smt021

I do like how you can control the color with the existing switch!

If you want true dark, forget about the shades inside. They always leak light around the edges. Have a canvas guy make you a set of hatch covers with a vinyl lining, not just the Sunbrella. The hatches are covered nicely, it's dark, and you can still open the hatch in an emergency with nothing in the way.

How do the colors change with a single switch? Is it a new switch or does it change each time it goes on and off?
