Used one on my former boat with a St Croix tip up davit system. Was very convenient to not have to remove the 15HP outboard but was a bit "bouncy" in rougher conditions due to the weight of that size motor. I would say if you have a small 4HP or so, go for it, other wise not.

I absolutely LOVE IT!! I have a 9.9 Mercury on mine and it is soooooo easy to use and totally eliminates the hassle. As for the weight of the motor, Weaver makes a brace that uses the swim platform and the back of the boat to secure it rather than having the weight of it on the tube of the dinghy...makes all the difference in the world! I wish I pics, but I do not...sorry about that. You can ask about it where you are getting info about the Weaver Lever. I cannot image a setup without it!

+1 on have it and love it. I have an 8hp motor which weighs 85 lbs and a traditional snap davit setup. I can raise/lower the dinghy alone but it is certainly much easier with two people. Do not be disillusioned into thinking you can simply release some pins and let the motor right itself as you raise or lower the dinghy. It does require some effort which obviously increases with a heavier motor. On balance, I find it much easier/more convenient than removing or replacing the motor each time I want to use or store the dink. As HavnFunYet? mentioned, the standoff from the lever to the swim platform keeps things very stable.

perfect picture ! i have a 8 hp tohatsu on my mercury inflatable. i was worried about the bounce factor but now see the stability. two person doesn't present a challenge as my wife always insisits on coming with me. great help thanks.
