We haven't asked this question in awhile but.....WHO IS GOING TO BUY A NEW BOAT?

just inked a deal on a 320

Had 4 seasons of great boating on the 280 so we're looking to get comfy on this one and then trade her up in 4 years or so

Not looking now, but next boat will be a 23' or so Malibu or other towboat. Although, I have been told by several people now that the 205 sport puts out as good a wake as towboats they have been behind, so may stick with SR and get a 230 Fission. I would like the extra 2' length and 6" beam.

Been looking at the 48 DA. for 2 years now ...I'm still waiting for the price to go down. No luck yet... I cant figure it out ... Price stands as is..

I have a buddy selling a 04 340 . Low hrs bow thruster , 8.1's. HE needs to unload the boat. ITs on Long Island

After a failed contract earlier this year we are looking again. The target has changed a little though to a 290 SunSport. We still want to stay in the trailer catagory so we can go where we want and when we want. We shall see if something comes our way again.

I would still like to move up to the 280 Sun Sport. But the thought of going through the selling process for my currnet boat has me hesitating.

Sold the 260, now I'm OFFICIALLY looking to upgrade. Thanks to this group, I have expanded my search above a 300, to avoid the itis from setting in again for as long as possible. Really love the 320 with v-drives. Looking.

I am looking for a well maintained 2000 or thereabouts 370EC with diesels and a hardtop. A few other niceties like good electronics and a cherry interior would be nice.

I doubt very VERY seriously if I'll ever buy a "NEW BOAT"...In my opinion the definition of "new" is brand spanking new, untouched, never played in and never slept in by anyone except for me! I own a 1997 240DA and right now it's serving all of my present boating needs just fine. I suspect it will continue to serve my boating needs for at least another 8 or 9 years, unless a deal to good to be true happens to pop up somewhere, lol...

I want to thank you guys for your advice. Because of this board, I set my "itis" sights a little higher and found a great 320 that should keep us happy for years to come.

I was initially looking in the 300 range, and I'm sure I would have been happy with that boat, but the 320 will be even better.

I also wanted to mention a great deal that I left on the table that may help someone else looking to upgrade. I inspected and submitted an offer on a 2004 300DA in Sandusky OH that is a very nice boat at a very aggressive price. Here is the link:

Rick Lucas of Castaway is a good guy to work with, and I can tell you the seller is motivated and will take $80K for this boat. I was a couple of days away from completing the survey and taking possession on this boat when the 320 offer fell in place, so I switched gears. If you talk to Rick, tell him you spoke to Scott B.

We were thinking last fall of going to a 41 to 46 footer, but with the way the economy is we will stick with the 340DA for the time being. really the only thing we would love to have is a bigger galley and a separate shower stall. Otherwise the 340 is big enough for us and things get trickier when you go 40+ feet on our lake.

I have my 2007 320DA up for sale, once it sells I have been looking at new or used cruisers like the 38DA, 390DA, 40DA, 420DA or 44DA. Looked at a new 38DA this week, very nice boat and good pricing. I prefer to buy one way rather than trade it, hope to do a better deal that way. Selling the 320DA for $169,995 with 80 hours, bow thruster, 300HP Horizon V-drives, many options. My preference is the 44DA but those are very rare here in the Pacific Northwest.

If Mrs R sells we will be buying, but not new. We are looking at the 400DA, 410DA and the 400DB. We love the 450DA but helm head room is an issue for me. Actually, cabin headroom in the 400DB is an issue for me too.

Why did Sea Ray forgot about us 6' 3" guys? I am not THAT tall.

Bottom Line:
2008 38DA
8.1 DTS V-Drive
White with black canvas
Dark Cherry, Black Sea, Milkweed, Fireglow color scheme
Bow Thruster
Dash Cover
E120 chartplotter, gps, open array radar, autopilot, fishfinder
premium audio x2
upgraded TV's x4
vacuum, all chain windlass, flag pole, spotlight, rod holders, cockpit frig, macerator, sunpad, etc. etc.

Retail: $464,228
Value: $409,892
Real: $329,995

Probably never buy a new boat, I will let someone else take the depreciation hit. The prices for what we want are just too high, when you can get a 3 to 5 year old boat that is similar for much less. But, those of you that can and will afford new boats, keep it up, the industry needs it.

+1, someone needs to go buy my dream boat today, take good care of it so I can then buy it in 10 years.

I have my 2007 320DA up for sale...

Wow, you have the itis, and bad! And it hits you fast!! Already selling an '07?! Whew...

We have the 7ft. itis, but $$ won't allow us easily. We've settled on our next boat being a 1995'ish 250DA...more options than the 240; a whole lot less than a 260. But still with modern day, elegant styling.
