Took a “vacation” day yesterday to wax the boat, and for me it is a long process. I will start off with a “cleaner wax” first, followed by a coat of Meguiars Flagship wax. Well I got the whole thing done yesterday but good lord what a job, I will be sore for a week. It is easy to see why detailers charge what they do for a job like that.

I have to do mine in the spring as I am already wrapped. I will first compound as it has been awhile. I am not looking forward to being sore, but it goes with the territory.

Waxing bigger boats is a pain. You either look like a monkey trying to do it in the water, or have to haul around a freakin' step ladder. Up the ladder, do a 4' square area.... down the ladder... move the Up the ladder, do a 4' square are... down the ladder... move the ladder... :smt101

I've often wondered if a good set of stilts wouldn't be a good investment.

Yea, the ladder think was the kicker. Once when coming down I missed judged that last step, I went to the ground, and ladder came down behind me, what a picture! Glad no one was around to laugh at me rolling on the ground!

Bill,
Washing, cleaning, then waxing your boat is a superb disincentive to getting a bigger boat. Every time I think I need more boat I wax the 42 DA. That cures ten foot itis in a big hurry.

Ive been waxing the 176 for a month now....every time I start I find another little project or end up just going out on it.

Maybe next month.

Yeah I'm due too. It's the perfect time of year for me though. It's raining outside. I can hang out in the garage, turn a heater on and a radio and get' r dun. It'll be the first season with the garage I'll be able to do it this way.

I polished and waxed mine several weeks ago. Every year it get's harder for me but I suppose old age is as good an excuse as any for complaining. :smt043

A larger boat would certainly do me in. :smt100

Skip, I am cured of that every time I pull up to the Fuel Dock...

I went to the boat today and got a 1/4 of the hull done. I will go over it all over the next few weeks. I'm still playing with the different products I have but had some good results today.

I recently purchased Surholds new orbital waxer works well even with one hand

I've been able to incorporate my boat maintenance into physical therapy, to a point anyway. Working a couple hours at a time, 3 to 4 days a week, I've managed to put 1 coat of cleaner wax, and 3 coats of polish below the rub rail, and 1 coat of cleaner wax / 4 coats of polish above the rub rail. I was also able to bottom paint the boat.

I thought I was done with all my work until I found this on the upper deck. I also found several areas that have not opened up yet, but eventually will turn into the same type of defect.

Let the battle with Sea Ray begin!!

Looks like something was dropped on it. That sucks.

So much for a nice, relaxing day waxing the boat!

Washed and waxed mine last weekend. My arms are buff like the hulk now.

Mine is getting pulled out of the water on Tuesday for a bottom job and a compound/wax job... The yard won't let me do that work myself. I would... but those are the rules... and I have to follow the rules.

well, I'm so pissed at my marina right now, I got to my boat today to winterize the engines... the boat was shrinkwrapped 3 weeks early and there's a big ole pole holding up the back, braced on my ER hatch. Disassembled that. Go to flush the engines, water is turned off. No electricity. I go over to the office and give them a WTF. blah blah blah freezing, blah blah blah can't turn it on just for you. there's still 300 boats in the water that haven't been pulled yet, temps only got down to 40 and it was 55 today, tomorrow it's going to be 65. I run 400' of hose from the only working outlet. Watch a guy next to me smoke his impellers running his engines with no water so he can warm up his engines to drain the oil. lower my bimini's because the moron's didn't. pull my now really freakin' dirty cockpit carpets that they trudged all over. The shrink wrap door was made for a midget so that ripped. I could go on and on but no one cares.

You mean they heard about your last close encounter with a buffer, and their insurance won't allow you to be within ten feet of a power tool.
