Hey everyone!!!

Just found you guys again! Its great to see the old gang again. I hope you all have been well...

2003 280- I have replaced the waterproof switchpad twice starboard side of the helm. The one with the Nav lights and water. I once again am having trouble with it. I had kept the old one and needed it when the water button didnt respond. Switching the pads out relieved the problem. Has anyone else ever had problems with it?

Welcome, glad to have you with us again. :smt038

Sorry no help on the switch pad from me but I am sure some 280 owners will be in here before too long. :thumbsup:

Do you lose the same function when it screws up or do you lose different functions? Have you tried plugging the one you replaced back in to see if it now works? The way your describing this it sounds more like a connection problem...

BTW, Welcome back!!! :thumbsup: :smt038

The non working buttons seem to stay the same with each pad. Last week while I was out, I had to switch pads back and forth to get the correct things to work. I dont think its beyond the pads.
The second pad was purchased used, so I may have bought someone elses same problem. It worked fine for almost six months. I can see some moisture behind the buttons. Thanks everyone!!

I also have a spare switch panel for my boat. Since you can't replace just one switch. I found them on e-bay about a year ago and they were going really cheap. I got it for like $16.50. I figured if one would go out you'd have to go back to sea ray to get one and no telling how much they would cost. This way it's on the boat and if I do have a switch issue down the road I would have one ready to go.

if buttons stays the same it is not problem with swith pad.
problem is with relay inside box under dash. you can't replace just one relay - they are part of circuit board. is is very common problem

let me rephrase the details...

I have two pads.

One pad has buttons that dont work EX. Water main

Pad #2 has OTHER buttons that dont work. EX. Windlass and such.

Hense switching both from #1 #2 gets me a working system(the hard way).

Thanks everyone for your input:) Have a SAFE weekend.

So, did switchpad #3 work to solve your problems or have you not switched them yet?

Once again, sorry for any confusion. I have only two pads. The original, and the new one from a surpluss dealer who I trust gave me a new part from Searay direct. I was wondering if anyone ever had problems with water getting inside of the switchpad as that is what I believe the problem is again. It looked as if the first pad had been tightened down to the dash to much and had split the cover off from the pad itself. I was gentle with the second one and I seem to still have the same issues. I think I can see moisture under the little raised parts where the LED is on each button that is giving me trouble. Thanks everyone. Be safe, and report dangerous boating. It may save your own life...
