Water when I pulled the spark plugs....

Well if the boat craps out on a nice sunny day with the cooler packed and friends on board, have fun getting towed in and enduring the ensuing "dealer said/mechanic said/that part is not covered/waiting weeks for my boat to be fixed" fiasco.

So any motor that has had a problem and then been repaired is to be forever avoided?

What would make this motor any less reliable than any other? I would PREFER an engine that had a problem, was fixed properly, and then came with a one year warranty VS an engine that runs good, no warranty.

I agree Eric, getting a 1 year gurantee is worth it IMO.

In this market I would prefer a boat that runs strong and to my knowledge never had water in the cylinders. I've also been around long enough to have serious reservation about some peoples idea of "service" after the sale. I hope the boat is okay and they enjoy it , but why take a known risk in one of the strongest buyers markets in history ?

I agree with Quint. What's fixed properly? For some, it might be blow the water out, change the oil, and light the fires. For others, it's pulling the heads, inspecting the cylinders and then putting it back together. I'd want to see the heads rebuilt, the cylinders inspected and honed, and the bottom end mic'ed and reassembled with new bearing and pistons with new rings, a light rebuild.

Best regards,
Frank
