Water Tank

I own a 1995 SeaRay Sundancer 450. I have a 100 gal water tank. Recently I topped off my water before a day cruise out to the Channel Islands. I did not use much water. my faucets were all off. the only water used was for flushing the heads. My fresh water pumps were on. My bilges were dry and I received no indication lights that the bilge pumps were on. (my bilge pumps and floats were recently replaced and are working fine) When I returned to my dock and shut the boat down I heard the fresh water pumps running dry. I checked my water tank and it was empty. No water in the bilge. The tank appeared dry and not leaking. I did see a short through hull discharge at the dock but nothing close to 100 gallons. Connections to the ice maker and refrigerator and freezer seemed secure. I have no idea where the water went. Has anyone had this problem and if so what was wrong??[/b]

Hello Jerry and welcome to this great forum!

A possibility is that the water flushed through the heads? Did you check the level from your holding tank or does it empty automatic?

I think an Expert for a 450 '95 problem is Frank W...

He reads this for sure and gives a answer to you!

Hi Peter - I doubt the the heads are the problem because when water is flowing through the heads you can hear the accumulators pumping. I know because I had a stuck float in the sump pump last year. I heard it and I had a light on the monitor. Thanks for your reply. --- Jerry

Well, you know it didn't evaporate, so...... Fill up your tank on a quiet day when you do not have water slapping on your hull sides. Open up lockers, remove seat cushions, open the bilge hatches, look at the transom shower and any place where water may be leaking. Do your water pumps run or cycle a lot? Sit and listen. Look everywhere for water coming out where it shouldn't. Does a bilge pump go off, and if so, where? You have a leak, or a faucet was on, or someone accidently turned on a washdown or transom shower, etc. Look systematically and you will find it. Tell us what you find. Another possibility is the head. Sometimes a piece of paper prevents the seal from creating a vacuum. With the noise of the boat running, you don't hear the pumps running. Then someone uses the head and it clears and vacuum is restored shutting off the pump, but the tank is still nearly empty. This would fill your waste tank.

Yep I think this also...

But test it and look at your waste tank..
