Not at the boat right now, but heading back out there tomorrow. Yesterday while on the boat, the water would not work. There is water in the tank and I have turned on the water pressure system at the helm. Light comes on.

Just trying to see where to look next. Possible fuse? Possible bad pressure system?

Thanks,

JL

you'll want to climb down into the ER and see if the pump is running. If it is, pull the feed hose from the pump and unscrew the plastic filter and make sure it's not plugged up. I also think the breaker for the pump is in the ER, either that or it's under the throttles.

Thanks,

I dropped by the boat and the pump started working. I let it run for about 10 minutes. Guess it's not the fuse. Then when I was getting ready to leave, it quit working again.

Guess it's either a failing pump or a connection. Check it out later this week. Found a new problem though, gear oil leak:smt089.

Had a similar problem with our 260. I traced this to a sticking pressure switch on the pump. Next time the pump doesn't work try tapping it on the end with the hose connections. If it starts then you have a sticking pressure switch. Good news is you can get a replacement switch kit and don't have to replace the whole pump. I think kit is $20.

appreciate the input Mike. will look at that when I am back at the boat tomorrow.

Forgot to mention that the pump has an adjustment screw on the end with the hoses which SR decided to mount so you have to remove the pump mounting screws to get to the adjust screw.....good engineering NOT!! My pump was located on the port side forward in the engine bay up next to the bay wall. You can try and adjust this screw to see if it helps, in my case it didn't.

well, I unscrewed it, looked at it. Then unscrewed the internal housing to the pump. Looked at it. cussed it a few times, hit it a few times, pressed on the switch a few times, took a few sips of beer, put her back together, remounted her, and now she works. I don't know....... I'll leave it alone for now.

Thanks again,

JL

The cussing is what fixed it. :)
