Boat Info
2008 340 DA, 2015 Glastron 160 gt, Pygmy glass over mahogany 17.5 and 14.5 kayaks (I built)
Engines
Twin 8.1 Merc V Drive on the 340, 75 Merc on the Glastron, Lehr 2.5 on Saturn tender
I'm getting an intermittent alarm for the starboard engine on the smartcraft display: "water pressure sensor not working properly". I've notified my mech and he's chasing it down with Mercury Marine but does anyone have input on what and how long it takes to correct?
I'm leaving on a big trip mid next week and hope to get it fixed by then, although I assume engine will operate fine if not fixed - just have to listen to sensor alarm off and on the whole trip.

Just replaced mine. Part is just over $100 and takes about 5 minutes to switch out. Switch them between engines to confirm it is the sensor.

where is the part located?

So by front you mean forward side of the engine looking down at the heat exchangers for the V Drives - correct?
And with V Drives, the water pump is on the aft side of the engine?

If that sensor is/was bad, you would be going into limp mode... no rev over 1200 RPM... is that happening??

On the 6.2 it is screwed into transmission cooler right above the transmission which is on the back of the engine, which is towards the front of the boat because the engine is installed facing aft due to the B drives. When you open the hatch look straight down just behind the bulkhead on top of the transmission you will see the cooler with the sensor screwed into it.

No - engine appears to run normally. Sensor alarm is also intermittent. Initially, it came on after the boat was at rest for a while after a run. Next day, started the boat - no alarm until about 20 minutes of operation. Then, alarm came and went intermittently.
