Water on carpet in aft stateroom

We just bought our boat! My husband drove it down the coast yesterday and found that the carpet in the aft stateroom (the one with twin beds) was wet. I found a thread which talked about the shower possibly leaking so we will check that, but.....

We know for sure that the forward stateroom has a window that leaks on the starboard side. Could this be the cause? They were at cruising speed in some very choppy water for a long time (there was a small craft advisory).....it seems so far from the other bedroom, but that water's got to go somewhere?

"but that water's got to go somewhere" - Exactly - and that's where I would expect to find it - at the lowest aft point (unless there is a bilge in the bottom of the V for it to travel further aft). Is it fresh water or salt? That can help you with the source. Let your husband test it.

Thank you for your swift reply. This is my first post for our first boat. It's amazing how clueless I feel :-( I get the feeling that after owning for years I'll still feel clueless!

Thank you for suggestion to check if the water is fresh or salt (why didn't I think of that).....makes perfect sense to start there. We'll start there this am.....grazie!

We had a similar situation. turned out to be the shore freshwater inlet. A piece of the hose inside the boat had developed a small leak. The water ran down the hose and soaked the carpet. MM fixed the fixture problem solved. You might also check the freshwater inlet if you have not already solved the problem.
