Hello All,
Here is my dilemma, I am currently winterizing a 97 Sea Ray 280 sun sport, my holding tank was filled inadvertently with fresh water to the point the pump wont work, (there is no solid waste in the tank), could I use a transfer pump and slip a hose with a cut end in there to get that water out ?? would that work ? what are my alternatives ?
thank you for your time gentlemen

When you say "the pump" are you referring to a dockside pumpout? I can't imagine how a full tank would prevent a pump-out from working. A clogged vent, however, could prevent the pumpout from working.

You're original post said it was filled "to the point the pump won't work". What pump?? Macerator? I'm confused...

Ok forget I said pump, need to get water out of holding tank, could I use a transfer pump??

In your OP you mention the absence of solid waste in the tank so I have to assume that you’re talking about your black water tank...the tank that your toilet fills, right?

If this is the case I’m still not sure why you can’t pump it out but I’ll assume that your marina doesn’t have a mobile waste pump and that you can’t get back to the dock to do it yourself since you’re on the hard.

You could use a transfer pump to remove the water into pails that could then be poured into a nearby toilet. Regardless of whether or not solid waste is present you can’t (or shouldn’t) empty this on the ground.
