Hello,

I am trying to chase an elusive water leak issue on my 280 Sundancer and found a possible culprit. On my 4.3L Mercruiser, I have a single point drain system. The orange hose that comes out the bottom is located right above the transducer, which at first led me to believe that the transducer seal was leaking. That was until I felt water coming out of that orange pipe. Is there any way to stop this from leaking? What could be causing it to leak in the first place? Maybe a blockage somewhere? Just don't know where to start on this one.

I also noticed that the engine that is leaking runs ~5 degrees warmer than the other.

Thanks

Sounds like the water distribution housing. Possibly a crack in it and it's running down to the orange drain... it is common for them to crack, especially around the blue drain plug. Fairly easy to change.

Start by flushing the drain fitting - just open it up and let it drain. Maybe you'll get lucky and find that some debris was caught up in it. I wouldn't worry about the 5* just yet. But keep an eye on it. Unless you're saying that this is a brand new issue? Or did you just notice it because of the leak? Even so, just watch it and see what happens. If it's only a little drip coming out, that is not the cause of the temp change, though.

Thanks! I'll take a closer look at it and see if I can find any cracks.

Ok I'll open up the blue knob near the thermostat and see what comes out. If it still leaks, I'll look into replacing the housing. Thanks
