WATER LEAK in aft berth: I have a water leak in the aft berth on my 1990 270DA Sundancer; it shows up on the wall on the port side of the aft berth (upholstered) wall. It shows up if it rains, if I wash the boat, or if we go boating in rough weather/rough water. I've sealed every nook and cranny I can think of, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to find out where this water comes from. It's not the fresh water pump or the lines coming to and from the fresh water tank. Any suggestions?

it's not coming down from the windscreen attachment screws? Is there a removable panel on the sides that cover the cavity from the topsides? it will be upholstered as well and attach to the ceiling of the rear berth. Have a look at "hard to find rain leak" it took me ages to find! Good luck!

Place some sealant where the arch meets the boat. I made a long extension with some tubing to apply the sealant on mine. This might be the culprit and won't hurt to seal it.

Rubrail?

What you need to do is get a helper with a hose. Start spraying various areas while one of you watches for the water to come in. You need to isolate areas and narrow it down. Always start with the lowest areas. Give it a good few minutes on each place. You don't need to "blast" the area with the hose - put the nozzle on a pattern that would mimic a medium to heavy rain.

If you just start sealing areas all "nilly willy" like, you're drive yourself crazy... oh wait, you said that has already happened...:smt001 But seriously, get scientific about it - try to isolate areas one by one until you find it. Again - always start with the lowest (to the ground) area.

I'm hoping I found it - - it may have been the louvered vent for the blower. There was a gap between the vent and the gelcoat (outside of the boat). Water seems to have been seeping in, then dripping between the outside of the boat and the inner liner of the boat, working it's way down to the aft berth. We'll know soon!! Pete/guitarfish

I hope that you found it, but... the only downside I see to that is your berth is uphill from the blower vent area. Although, water can do some funny things... put a hose on just (use a slow, steady stream) the area you are talking about and see if it leaks in. Good luck.

Man, I have the same boat and the same problem! If you've located it since your last post lmk... I can see it's going to be a pain trying to find it.. Dang thing

2 spots to look at, 1. On the starboard side where the windsheild terminates is a hole where all the light and windsheild wiper wiring passes down through. Make sure this is sealed good. 2. The captains seat section is fastened through the ceiling of the aft berth, if water is on the floor at the helm, it may make it down through the holes for those fasteners. Also the bow railiong connections can always be a culprit. Had the same issue on mine, and it turned out to be the wiring hole as far as I can tell. Good Luck.
