I got two new motors from Michigan Motorz. I looked at re-manufactured, but then when I saw that the price difference wasn't all that much and with the re-man I would have to factor in the cost and hassle of returning cores, I went with new.
At first I was going to just get two longblocks, but then I figured that changing two motors meant I was committed to keeping the boat for a number of years, so I went with two of their "Alpha Replacement" motors. They came complete with brand fuel and ignition components. I just had to add the exhaust. It was worth it to me to have all new wires, distributor, carb, fuel pump,
circulator pump, tins, etc., as these are all wear items that may have had to be replaced over the next few years if I used the old stuff.
I don't see the "Alpha Replacement" package on their website anymore, but there are some listings under their "partial engine" section that look to be about the same as what I bought two years ago.
