I'm having a rain water intrusion problem on my 89 340EC and I'm looking for some advice. The headliner above my stove gets wet when it rains and I can't figure out where it's coming from. I know this is common on these boats so I'm hoping someone else had the same problem and resolved it. It's gotten to the point of actually having mold develop and I really need to take care of this.
The leak is NOT coming from the horn wiring. I can't really tell where it's coming from but it's somewhere behind the woodwork. I started trying to remove some of the wood trim and shelves to get a better look but couldn't figure out how it all came apart so I figured I'd ask for any advice about the here before going on. I'll attach some pics to give you an idea of what I'm facing. The leak appears to be starting in the corner where the panel with the light meets the panel where my speaker goes.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

It's almost always at the base of the windshield in the right corner where the wiper motor wires pass thru the deck. I sealed mine from the outside by removing the screw cover at the base of the windshield and squeezing silicone into the corner. I then sealed it from behind the windshield with silicone from behind in the same corner. It worked for me.

As hottoddie stated its the windshield. Also possibly the attatching hardware...

My leak at that spot was from the horn on the deck. I found I need to rebed the screws every couple years. After I rebed the horn the wetness in that area drys up. I use 3M 4200.
It must be vibration over time that loosen the horn screws.
Last year the first time of rebedding the screws failed, second time worked.

Thanks for the input. I'll take a closer look today when I get to the boat.

Is the horn bolted on, or screwed on? I have a similar leak, so I want to rebed as much as I can, just worried I need to pull the headliner. I'm pretty sure my rails need to be rebedded also. That I'm fairly sure is bolted so I need to get at the bolts.
Along the same lines, is the windshield screwed or bolted? Might as well do that while I'm at it.

Windshield is screwed so is the horn, the rails are bolted.

Oh that's good news... Really don't want to deal with the headliner unless it's a last resort. Thanks for clarifying.

Check out my past project page. I had 2 of the above listed problems. Both where the windshield wires ran down the windshield and where the horn came through the top deck I also found no coring where the horns were mounted and that I was not the first one repairing it. There was several other holes that were improperly patched. I glassed 6 layers of woven cloth in the cabin after I tore out the headliner then filled from the top a mixture of resin and 404 filler so it was solid. Now I notice part of the top deck is soft about 2 feet from where I patched. I might pull out the hatch in that area and inspect the coring there. It might also be coming from around the hatch into that section. If that is the case, new winter project. for now I will just reseal the hatch. But come winter, get some of the flotation foam 2 part mixture, drill a couple of vent holes and force it down and let it expand. Then reseal the holes on top.

I have a 268. I had an aft cabin leak that only occurred when it was heavy rain. It took me a few rain storms to figure out I needed to take some stuff apart. It ended up being under the windshield. There was a broke off bolt from a previous windshield removal. Here is the million dollar tip..... The leak is rearly directly above where it apears, in fact with mine the leak in the aft cabin was a foot ABOVE the actuall hole.
On a side note, we replaced our headliner.... It was a dirty itchy work, but sooooooo worth it.
