I have a Sundancer 240 and the carpet in the bottom of the cabin is damp. I already traced the water line to the tank in the bow and it is not coming from there. It hasn't been in the water since the fall so it isn't a leak. I believe it may be coming from the bathroom but not sure. However in the bathroom the water supply line goes to the toilet above the raised floor. Also the soil pipe runs aft from the toilet above the raised floor also. So what is under that raised floor?

Please help I am in the process of buying a 34ft. CHB double cabin yacht and I want to sell the Sea Ray.

What year is your 240? Some 240/260s are susceptible to water leaks around the port light, which can migrate to the floor of the cabin. Also, does your boat have a wet head (shower in the head area)? If so, you have a sump with bilge pump under the step down into the cabin (under the trash can). The sump could be leaking, especially if the bilge pump has failed or is clogged.

It's a 2011 and it is has been in my driveway all winter so there cannot be water migrating down unless it is rainwater. Yes, it has a shower in the head however I recently replaced the sump pump and that area is bone dry right now. it is just crazy I would be surprised as hell of the port light leaked enough rainwater to dampen the carpet in the bottom of the cabin. I do have the boat jack up so that what water gets in runs out the drain and the back of the boat.

There’s also the galley sink plumbing and drain to the thru-hull in the cabinet under the sink. Or the bow hatch could be leaking. Water can migrate into odd places in the interior. Have you tried using a hose to soak the topsides and then probe around the interior looking for leaks?

If your carpet is wet, it is most likely coming from leaky stanchions or windows. If it is one general spot star looking from the direction. Look for signs of water egress around the inside ceiling and look inside cabinets etc. Feel the sides for moisture as well.

There's actually a lot of info in other threads about this if you want to do some more research as this is common to any boat with portlights as the sealant eventually fails. It "could" be something else, but this is by far the most common given your variables.

Have you inspected the sealant around the head portlight?

The head wall is separate from the hull - so water will flow down the inner hull, under the head floor and end up exactly where you are finding it. Remove the carpeted kick panel under the head door and observe while someone sprays the portlight.

The other thing could be that the rubber gasket on the portlight is not being compressed enough AND the head floor drain is leaking. Same thing happens there.

FYI, there is NOT a drain (shouldn't be, anyways, unless someone drilled a hole) from the cabin bilge to the engine bilge. Have you checked the understep sump area?
