Okay, so I'm new to boating and recently purchased a 2003 Sundancer 280 (twins, generator). I've been working though some issues (I just replaced the shower pump) but now I'm realizing that when the gray water system is pressurized, it causes a leak which ends up in the Starboard Aft of Mid Stateroom bed.

There is also a dripping that I can see from the engine area (where the water tubes pass through into the cabin). It is coming from a blue tube that is going into a black oval metal object (part) that is passing through to both areas. So here are my questions:

1) what is the black object? It is not shown on the parts manual for the boat, all they show is a strait shot of tubing but this does not seem to be the case.

2) How do I access it to replace/fix it? My best guess is taking out the starboard wall of the mid stateroom (the foot of the bed) but I thought I would try for advice here before I started taking everything apart.

I appreciate any help!

Thanks,
Sean

It is the middle of the night, and I may not be reading this properly. I would not think of a gray water system to ever really be pressurized. So, I assume that you are referring to the fresh water system. When you pressurize the system, is that turned on by a switch at the helm? The blue tube (PEX) is the cold water feed to the sinks.

or

Is it leak from the small bilge pump found in the shower sump - when it turns on?

Either way, pulling the mid berth side panel can be done, and will give you some visibility to a possible source of the problem. I have been able to remove that panel (and only that panel) fairly easy.

If you post a pic of where the leak is, along with the black object you may get a better response. Good luck!!

Thanks, yes I meant the fresh water system. So I did work on this today, took down the wall and really found the issue. The leak is on both sides (see pictures), leaking into both the engine room and the mid stateroom. It also looks like the issue was creates when the previous owner install a component and cut a hole in the wall between the engine room and mid stateroom. I think at that time they cut or cracked one of the fresh water tube.

Has any one had to replace some of this tubing? Should I just slowly cut away the silicone until I can free up the tube and then replace a long section? Also, one replaced, can the area be filled up with something like Great Stuff or should silicone always be used?

Thanks,
Sean
