Hi all, relative boating newbie here and new to the forum. I have been meaning to post sooner but unfortunately it is some bad news that brings my first post.

I picked up a used 2000 Sea Ray 180 BR about a month ago and now that the weather is finally coming around here in Buffalo I finally get it out on the water last week. Long story short, I pull the drain plug after my third time out on Thursday and out comes a ton of oil and water. Turns out I had so much water coming into the engine that it started shooting out the breather tube and all over the engine compartment.

Luckily the boat came with a 30 day warranty on the engine and drive so I immediately dropped it off to where I bought it. (Thank god it was effective as of May 15 or I would be in some serious $$$ trouble)

My question is, what is the norm for repair on this? Obviously if the block is cracked its time for an new engine. But if they find out it is just a head or intake gasket, should I be expecting a complete rebuild because of the water? Some people tell me that the bearing are washed out now and everything needs to be replaced or I can expect problems all over again. Some people in different forums seem to be content running the engine and changing the oil frequently for a little while to get the remaining water out. I'm just trying to be informed so when I talk to them I know what I am talking about.

Thanks.
