This past weekend found water under port engine.I have a 2001 460 sundancer with v drives water in cavity by shaft seals. after sucking out all water ran engine at dock put in gear no dripping. This morning found more water same location. further inspection found water coming out of the hollow stringer top inside hole. vacuumed out as much water as i could. water was salty.I do not know were it is cumming from. HELP

RUSS,
The stringer on the port side just rear of engine mount bolts. on inside there is a white cap. pop it off the stringers are hollow.I shopvac about 4 gal. of water out of there.

I have searched and searched found out that water could be coming in from bow thruster. If it is possible the stringer goes all the way to back from bow?

Hmm not sure I understand but I will go look at mine and try to see what your talking about. This stringer is going fore and aft, not from port to starboard? Where is the white cap? On the bottom like a drain?

John, I have the same issue. The fiberglass stringers on my 480 MY are indeed hollow. The white cap is where a hole was drilled through it so a wrench could be put on the underside nut of the engine mount. There are a pair of stringers for each engine and all stringers have the white caps adjacent to each engine mount. I too have used my shop vac to drawn out 4-5 gals of water from the port outside stringer. I my case the water looks to be fresh water...not lake water, so I suspect a fresh water leak onboard. The water appears to only accumulate while I have shore water turned on. While the water is shut off and we are gone, no water accumulates. I am still investigating where the water is coming from.

RUSS, Had boat hauled on Tues. in rain. went back down yesterday. I put red dye in hole filled with water no drips. I got hull specs from Scott Hodgin customer service sea ray Palm Beach will e mail if you like. Any ideas on how to find leak?

stringers arent hollow, post some pics of the area

Yes they are. I can't claim for every boat, but on our boats they're hollow.

Yes, I would please. Calasant@sbcglobal.net. I'm not sure, no. I'm going to look at mine this weekend.
