Was in the water for two days and covered about 30 miles in fairly choppy water. I have replaced the steering pin and all the bellows this year. Got home and had 1 quart of water in the bilge when I drained it.

Any suggestions? Is a little water ok?

I have a little water in my bilge, my boat is in a wet slip, but I do not imagine I would worry about that small of an amount of water after being in the water for two days.

Water does not always come in through the outdrive. Sometimes you may have a leak in the engine compartment from a hose or especially the big rubber hoses that connect the manifolds to the exhaust tubes, the clamps are large and will loosen with use causing a slight drip when the engine is running. I get a little water in my bilge too but cannot seem to find out where it is coming from. It's not enough for the bilge pump to kick on. I just always clean and dry it out after trailering home.

I have the same issue after running. Except I usually have a gallon or two. When I come off plane the force moves the water forward enough to kick the bilge pump on for about a minute. When at rest, no additional water accumulates so I am assuming a leaky clamp somewhere. My boat is FWC so it may be more limited in possible leaks. When I get some time I will start to chase it...only problem is that at the dock it does not happen...seems to only happen when the engines are under load.

For what it's worth; We've had water enter our bilge from the fresh air intake louvers on the side as well as from the anchor locker when we've taken spray over the bow. Haven't experienced this with any of our Sea Rays but it HAS happened.

Everything drains into the bilge on my 225 Weekender...anchor locker, deck etc. Another source of water we can't stop. Word of caution, if you are running the boat under load two things can happen to you while tracing water problems. Fanbelts can eat fingers and engine compartment covers can slam down on feet or other body parts.

Get a super bright light to assist you, even in daylight.

Anchorlocker has it's own drains and my deck has drains also. my cockpit is normally dry unless it's really windy and 4'ers. i will check all the hoses & clamps & go from there.

thanks

Had same issue and in my case it was the transducer seal leaking.

No transducer and. my engine vents are at the back of the boat. hopefully a clamp or hose.

my engine vents are at the back of the boat

my engine compartment vents are on the back of my boat as well.....i get water in my bilge/engine compartment from rain that blows into the vents.....

They are under the back of the rear seat. no lake water entering. you can see them in my sig.

Having just replaced two impellers...look at all the hose clamps and if you have any of the plastic blue drain plugs with o-rings...they will weep if the o-ring is missing or worn. I literally put paper towels under the engines to determine where the drips/water were coming from or near...I actually have a dry bilge now unless I hose down the rear of the boat or in my case the rear access panels drain into the center of the bilge...only gets wet if raining or washing it down.

Will also check the plugs, Thanks for all of the ideas so far.

Just went & crawled into the bilge - EVERY clamp took at least one turn to tighten, Some even two or more turns. Not sure if that was the problem but I am glad I checked them. Going back in the water tomorrow for 5 days so I will see what happens.
