After it rains i always have a small amount of water in my bilge area. I have tried to find a leak everywhere but can find nothing with a garden hose on the hull. I have looked for leaks from the arch, portholes, swim platform, etc.. nothing. I can soak the boat with a garden hose for hours but get nothing, but if it rains for 5 minutes, I have water in the bilge!!! Any thoughts

Sorry to jump in, Euty, but I have the same issue (or so I think) with my '05 340. After reading some other posts and hearing about people keeping their bilge areas squeaky clean, I'm wondering what is normal. I seem to always have a little "muckish" water in my bilge. I realize I probably don't clean it as often as I should, but I assumed having a little water in the bilge was fine and normal. Am I incorrect? Or does it depend on the boat and/or size? Should a 340 have a spotless/dry bilge? Hoping any information would help both Euty and me out. Thanks in advance.

From what I am learning this is pretty common with these boats. If I dry my bilgeout and there is no rain, I have NO water whatsoever in my bilge. We have dripless shafts on the V-Drives so there is really no reason to have water in the bilge. My dilemma, as well as others I have talked to, is getting water in the bilge after it rains. Any insight on that would be appreciated. Thanks

FWIW I get the same thing on my 290. Shopvac it dry and it stays that way until it rains.

thank you for yourprompt response! Can you please elaborate as to what you are referring to? Thanks

If you look at the walk-around, non-skid surface next to the cockpit seating, it is made from two halves. I believe the rain water gets in from the joint between the two. I plan on removing and replacing the sealant on mine.

Hey John,

I'm not following you on where this is either - sorry - throw me a bone - uh picture, please.

Thanks,

We get water into the bilge from the rod holders, especially the side that has the holder for the shore power cable.
