Water hose and gear lube hose replacement

Unfortunately it's that time of year where my boat has been pulled for winter. Last season I noticed while putting on new zincs that my water hose and lube hose are pretty cracked and look brittle when my drive is in full up. I gambled and said I will fix this winter. Luckily zero issues, no leaks. Now I want to replace both those hoses. The question I have is Do I need to fully remove the shift cable when when I pull my bell housing away from the gimbal ring. Will I have enough room to do the job with out pulling the shift cable? PS..Alpha 1 Gen 2

What's the big deal? Take the nut off at the bell and pull it out of the way, cable stays.
