My boat was splashed this weekend, and when I got to the Marina and hooked up power and water, I had water flowing from the hot water heater vent opening on the port side. Anyone have a clue why water would flow from this vent and what I do to correct the situation?

Boat ran beautifully. I don't know about you, but there isn't much better in life than the first "throttle up" after such a long winter.

Mike, I had the same problem last month. My entire fresh water tank would drain out through that water heater overflow in about an hour. I had the temperature pressure valve (TPV) on the hot water heater replaced and that did the trick.

Pressure relief valve is most likely open. It is best left in the open position for winter storage after draining the tank, you just need to flip the toggle down.

Thanks guys, that makes sense. I should have checked he HWH but I had to wait until I got home and look up in my manual what the darned vent had been attached to.

Second the relief valve. Sometimes even after being toggled closed they will continue to leak so keep an eye on it. If it does it's an easy fix as I changed ours for the same problem, began to drip.

Same happened to me this year. Replaced the pressure relief valve and all is well.
