Has the water heater already been disconnected. I dont see any signs of the water lines going it or from it. I only see the vent line. I also dont see any power going to it.

It looks as though someone just bypassed the whole thing by connecting the hot to the cold and the two engine water lines together (look at the bottom of the pic).

Where the electrical is / goes is still a bit of a mystery...

Ok, looking again, I'd be willing to bet the electrical is in the grey corrugated sheath at the bottom of the picture as well.

Just purchased the 6 gallon Kumaa and for $20 more got the magnesium drain anode. You remove the drain faucet and put in this one it comes with a T faucet this should keep the corrosion away and save the hassle of replacing it too soon⚓️

Thanks for your comment I have found a new one and purchased an anode that fits into the drain hole so hopefully will not have to worry about it for a few years once it’s installed

My rule if it is older than 5 or 6 years replace it If you put out the coin to repair it It may fail during the boating season and it is short enough as it is with out having to do repair work during the season Just my 2 cents Good Luck Conard

Update, new water heater was installed last Saturday lovely hot water. I also had a new shurflo water pump put in at the same time. It took a long time to find it as the owners manual said it was under the stairs but it was under the wastebasket. I can begin cleaning the teak in the cockpit and around the transom. I had been so stressed I took two days off to do nothing but enjoy the sunshine and take a short trip to beautiful Blue Springs on the John’s River near Orange Fl. viewing over 12 manatees. This was just the tonic I needed. Highly recommended. I am going to be sure to go by Sykes in the next week or so. Hope to find Capt Rusty. Does anyone know if you can replace the wall vac? Is it repairable??

For things like Wall Vac take a picture, measure the size, look for a model number and then go to RV dealer. When we rebuilt our 28 footer I got a lot of parts for the boat at an RV dealer. They finally asked what I had and they said they had a marine division. They looked up similar parts and were double to triple the price. The dealer said they looked the same. Home Depot and Lowe's are good places for plumbing parts. NAPA will save you also they will order marine item for you. Just take in old and they can usually find a marine replacement.

Thanks folks. I’m going to take it out and see if it’s hardwired. Not sure whether it is hardwired or plugged looks pretty rusted out. Noticed on the walvac website that the replacement motor is nearly as much as a whole new unit. Would it be controlled through the accessories switch? Looks like pushing in the hose activates switches it on and nothing happens when I push it in and I can’t find an on off switch.

The switch is part of the hose inlet. The hose has a metal band that makes the contact when inserted.

I noticed a bunch of rust on the end of the hose. I’ll try cleaning that off and see if it relieves the problem.
