I recently saw a parts list complete with pictures of the stuff needed to make a water heater bypass. I don't remember where I saw it. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

You can do it yourself with a simple pipe nipple. Unscrew the hoses from the tank and use a nipple to connect them to each other. Cheap, but the downside is you have to handle the hoses every time you want to winterize/recommission. Some hoses don't react well to being handled that much.

Otherwise a kit can be as simple as two Tee valves and a hose. One on each port to the heater and a hose between them. Turn the Tees to re-route the water, cutting out the heater. There's another kit that uses only one valve, on the input side, a tee on the output side and a one-way valve on the output side. I've got this one and it works well enough. A two valve type would require you turn both valves properly. Not a big problem unless, like my heater, you can't get to both valves easily.

Various kits exist to do this, usually around $25, complete with all parts and instructions.
