I need to replace the water distribution housing unit for an open loop cooling system which cracked at the drain plug hole. The part number stamped on the side of the housing is 863631-A1 but after all the searching online including at mercruiserparts.com says that it's no longer available. Instead, is seems that part# 863631T1 might be the proper replacement for it but a lot of sites warn that it's a commonly mis ordered part. Can anyone confirm if the "T1" part is the proper replacement?

Looks like the same part. Match it up and buy a quality one from merc

Do you have the air pump fittings on yours?

Do you have the extended drain handle?

Those are the variations that you need to look for.

No air pump fittings or extended drain handle.

So.... a happy ending to the story. I ended up ordering part# 863631T1 and it was a perfect fit. Found it for ~30 bucks on Amazon so I ordered two and am keeping one in the boat just in case. Attaching an image of where mine cracked for reference.

Happy Boating!

They crack there because the oring gets brittle, it leaks, it gets overtightened in an attempt to stop the leak and then breaks.

Replace the oring yearly and it won’t break.

Did it crack over the winter ❄️
