In lieu of the water maker we've been considering I think a water bladder is more practical for us now. Was in Block Island for a week over the 4th and ended up using a friends water bladder to fill up our tank. Only down side and biggest pia was rigging up a pump to transfer the water. I think if i can refine that process the bladder will be very useful. Picked up a bladder from amazon however trying to sort out the best transfer pump. The way i would like this to work is: Fill up the bladder in the dinghy (50-80 gallons). Pull up to the side of the boat, tie up the dinghy, hook up the hose and transfer pump and step away as it begins the transfer. I'm thinking of using this pump below. My thinking is that I could also use it in a pinch if our existing water pump fails in a remote location. I also prefer to have a 110 pump vs a dc pump as I don't want to connect to batteries etc. I also don't want to be stuck standing in the dinghy for the whole transfer process. Anyone doing this or has suggestions for a better self priming transfer pump?

Hi Dean - Is the water boat not a thing in block anymore, or are you talking about other destinations?

Hey Mike, yes waterboy is still there but on a busy week/weekend you have to wait a while. Also planning to use this in other places like MV which has a water barge.

We waited 4 hours for the waterboy that week. Ended up borrowing someone's set up of a couple large crates and the pump system. Full water tank within an hour helped us not stick around waiting for the delivery.

I used to carry a spare water pump so if the onboard died, I could drop the new pump right in. It died and I did! I had used it for transferring water but haven't needed it. It served as a backup and transfer pump. Worked quite well and is continuing as the primary pump now that it's removed from the bench.
