The bilge pump is hooked up to constant battery power (of course).
I was wondering, should the midship pumps also have constant battery power as well?

My bilge has a switch and a float to activate on dedicated always on power.
My midship has a switch only and BAT 1 or 2 needs to be ON.
My forward pump has a float which will activate if BAT 1 or 2 is ON.

This sound normal?

I ask because the constant 12v supply to the bilge corroded and the main bilge didnt activate... thus my boat was sitting very much lower in the water after a rain storm and a lot of water in the bilge. If the forward pump had a dedicate power supply the boat would not have taken on as much water.

However running a line to the pump would be... fun... SO in the interum I ran 2 lines to the bilge to make sure it will always have power.

seems odd to have a float switch on a pump without the constant hot lead
all I can say is....I couldn't hurt to have one

im not syre about your model but i agree with running a constast hot to the midship pump. maybe to a different battery than the aft pump. is there a high water alarm?
