Son and a friend were launching friend's boat at the bottom of a public ramp. After launching, they moved the truck (tow vehicle) and now empty trailer off to the side while getting organized. Heard a huge noise, turned around to see someone else's trailer (with boat still attached) planted in the front of his truck.

Son discovered that offending trailer...
1. had a two inch coupler and their tow vehicle had a 1 7/8 ball.
2. safety chains were used, but looked about the size of the chains your average biker would use to hold his wallet.

Photos forthcoming.

Not sure the lesson...offenders probably didn't want any assistance and didn't know they desperately needed it. Glad it hit a truck instead of a kid. Be watchful at public ramps.

I think you are correct. Nothing much to learn here. The ignorant are magnificently adept at finding new stupid ways of screwing up. Be vigilant and keep your insurance policy current.

Can't help myself. What kind of boat did the boobs have?

Best regards,
Frank

For me the over all benefits of trailering out way the drawbacks. Some of the things I see at the ramp blow my mind but I refuse to let that aspect ruin my day. Go early leave early & make sure I park in such a way that some ahole can't block me in.

You knew before you asked. A old Bayliner BR.

Coulda been a RinkerDinker. Had to have been an old boat. The dealer probably would have checked that. Even the PWC dealer checked that stuff when they delivered my PWCs.

Yes! Trucking too!!!
