Please avoid Amazon. I am not a happy customer. I bought a "New" pair of Klipsch AW-525 outdoor loudspeakers through Amazon, an authorized Klipsch Dealer. They came from Pavillion Electronics. They were 4 years old and blew out very quickly. They sent me a new pair that were only 1 year old. They took a month to blow.

I tried to utilize my lifetime warranty from Klipsch, but they advised me that since the speakers came from Pavillion, the warranty is void. Amazon will not help me because it's been more than 3 months since I placed the order. I contested this because the first pair was 4 years old. They would not bend.

Anyone want to buy a pair of lifetime warranty AW-525's?

Pavillion will not answer my phone calls or E-mails.

We are boycotting Amazon and would recommend you stay well clear of Pavillion. Amazon doesn't even have good prices by a long shot anyway.

That's unusual. I've used Amazon to intervene a couple of times over the years and they have been great.
I know it's always easier when you buy directly from them, but they also did the right thing for me on something I bought from a third party seller.
I ordered a Pool Buster Vacuum a few years ago and they sent me what was obviously a return. It was advertised as new, and I paid for a new one. The prior buyers information was still on a shipping label underneath mine, and the they did a crummy job of re-paqckaging it.
The vendor first took the position that it was still new, and after I e-mailed a photo of the old label they insisted that it was still new.
I had Amazon intervene and the seller offered to replace it. I told Amazon that I'd rather get the refund and buy it locally because I didn't have faith in the vendor anymore. They made the refund happen, including shipping and the return.
You may have been better off not trusting the vendor to get it right the second time around. It only delays the inevitable in most cases.
You might also want to try going through your credit card company.

Sorry to hear about your situation but it sounds like the issue is with Pavillion Electronics. I do a lot of my shopping with Amazon (too much maybe) and my experience is opposite of yours. I've had a couple issues and Amazon took care of them immediately. I always choose products from Amazon vs. the same item from a third party for the exact reason you described.

Hate to say it, but good luck getting anything from Pavillion this time of year with the holiday rush. I hope either Amazon or Pavillion steps up to the plate for you though.
.

Here's my beef with Amazon. I get some young, ditzy girl on the phone to discuss the case. She couldn't understand the issue until I described it 3 or 4 times. Then, she said that she would submit a claim for an exception to the 90 day rule as it took over 90 days to get a new product to begin with.

2 weeks later, the same ditzy girl e-mailed me and wrote that she couldn't help because it was over 90 days. In other words, it didn't go up a level or anything. I'm going to challenge the payment on the credit card.

Doesn't sound like an Amazon issue to me. Sounds like a Klipsch issue. I'd lean on them.

Sorry to hear about your experience....I have had wonderful experiences with Amazon....Like others have said though, usually the beef comes with the vendor. If in fact you are approved for the claim often times there are lengthy refund times and ludicrous re-stocking fees.
Hope things turn around for you

My credit card company can't help - too much time has passed.

Klipsch won't honor warranties from un-authorized dealers - kind of can't blame them. These guys sent me 4 year old speakers. I'm going to the better business bureau now.

The only problem I have with Klipsch is that even though they are still building these speakers, they will not sell me replacement base speaker inserts - The come right out. They are on my work bench. Klipsch says I have to have them re-built by someone.

I have to agree. . .Amazon is great. . .vendors in the "Amazon Marketplace". . not so much.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I purchased "new" Bose computer speakers on Ebay. Due to my procrastination I didn't open the box for months. When I did only 1 speaker worked. The company was out of business and Ebay said it had been too long. I contacted Bose and they said the speakers had been manufactured 2 years ago and were no longer in production. They replaced the speakers for free, with the updated version if I paid the shipping, which was minimal. I'm a Bose customer for life after this. Great customer service.

That's a shame about it being too long for the CC compnay.
Maybe you can try again with Amazon. Ask to speak to a supervisor. I remember having a candid conversation with the rep when they were resovling that issue for me. The rep said that third party vendors tend to be more cooperative when dealing with amazon reps because they want to continue to sell on amazon.
Since my experience I now try to buy directly from amazon if possible. If the item is only available through one of the third party vendors I usually try finding it online, but off of the amazon site. I think that sometimes a vendor is more cooperative when you make the purchase directly through them.

"Perhaps buy some of the same speakers from a recognized dealer, then return them, because "they somehow broke and are junk, and you want your money back."

I didn't say anything......"

Good.........because that would be fraud and depending upon what state and how much $ is involved, it may be a felony.

Hmmm, never had problem with any Klipsch speaker. Have had them for years and think they are the best. Have couple of Corner Horns and KG-4s. The Bose fans scare me (worst quality ever!). Klipsch are actual quality and can be blown with improper handling (which maybe the case). Just sayin'.......

BUT in this regard. I have had a pair of KG-4's for over 20 years. A friend came over and blew then by turning up my amp way to loud. Klipsch changed out the drivers with no questions asked.

Guess it depends on who you talk to.......

John,

Rather the nhammering Amazon, I would work on their trading partner, whom you got the speakers from. All of t he companies who sell theu Amazon rely very heavily on customer reviews. I think I might make a project out of Pavillion and give them horrible reviews every day for a month. You might not get satisfaction from them, but you will affect their Amazon sales.

No fraud here, but I like the way he's thinking. I e-mailed Klipsch with my issue again. I would be happy buying a pair of replacement bass speakers. They have tweeter assy's for $30. The guy I talked to said they didn't have bass assy's. I can't believe that. Maybe the e-mail will get to someone else - like someone wrote - it all depends who you talk to.

My goal is to restore them to 100% and then sell them for 75% or so. I'm sure Klipsch makes fine products. These do not meet my needs. They were not over-powered, if their specs are accurate. The power to them was clean. I've ordered their replacements. http://marine.jlaudio.com/products_enclosuers.php?prod_id=450 The black ones.

Strange how they are blowing like that with clean power. Klipsch is usually pretty good with assisting in these situations. I am sorry your having issues with them. I stuck with Infinity Kappas and Boston Acoustics for my outdoor and boating speakers. They seem to make good outdoor enclosures and the sound is great. I keep the Klipschs for indoor use only.
